Sense and Sensibility

UGA Theatre—April 2026
Adapted from Jane Austen’s classic novel, Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters as they experience love and loss during a tense social season in 18th-century England. Eleanor, who feels everything deeply rather than loudly, tries to guide her sister, Marianne, to do the same as they search for love. The town gossips play a large part in the story, emphasizing the need for sisterhood during times of heightened societal pressure. Whether it’s a quippy remark or a heart-tugging moment of despair, the audience is feeling every emotion and is left wondering, “Will the sisters find the love they deserve?”

This production was a blast to photograph. Rachel May integrated so many beautiful stage pictures into her elaborate direction, there were picture-perfect moments around every corner. Not to mention the vibrant colors selected by designers Ivan Ingermann, Stanley Meyer, and Andres Valencia. The “world” of Sense and Sensibility was flawlessly executed. The performances, design elements, and direction flowed in cohesive way that was captivating from the first line of the show. What’s not to love?!
